Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec: Nuage Vase
Vitra Design, Germany

Arrange your flowers in Ikebana style with Ronan & Erwan Bourollec's modern-looking Nuage Vases from Vitra. Vitra's Nuage Vase features tube-like cylinders designed to hold a single stem, bloom or leaf. Fashioned from colored anodized aluminum in interlocking shapes that allow them to be arranged in different compositions for varying decor styles. Bouroullec’s collections of Nuage bud vases are available in complimenting forms, sizes and colors to showcase your contemporary decorative flower arrangements in style.

Create a simple floral accent or event centerpiece with these cylinder bud vases. For the Nuage vase, the designers executed the cloud motif in extruded aluminum profiles of varying lengths. The cavities in the basic form are now positioned upright, dividing the vase into eight individual tubes that can be used for the artful arrangement of flowers and grasses. The undulating surfaces, with an anodized finish in various colors, produce an attractive interplay of light and shadow. Thanks to their precise outer contours, the vases can be fitted together to create entire ‚cloud formations.

Ronan - France, 1971 / Erwan - France, 1976. Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec’s working collaboration is a permanent dialogue nourished by their distinct personalities and a shared notion of diligence with the intention to reach more balance and fineness. In 1997, they presented their Disintegrated Kitchen at the Salon du Meuble in Paris and were spotted by Giulio Cappellini, who gave them their first industrial design projects, notably the Lit clos (“Closed Bed”) and the Spring Chair. A meeting with Vitra’s Rolf Fehlbaum resulted in their conception of a new kind of office system, Joyn, in 2002. This was the beginning of a special partnership that has borne fruit in numerous projects, including Algues, the Alcove Sofa, the Worknest, the Slow Chair, the Vegetal and L’Oiseau. Since 2004, the Bouroullecs have also been working with Magis, for whom they have designed two complete furniture collections, Striped and Steelwood as well as additional projects such as the Pila chair, the Pilo table, the Central and Tambour tables. In 2010, they debuted a new collection of tableware for Alessi. Since 2011, they have designed the Piani and Aim lamps for Flos, the Losanges rug for Nani Marquina, the Osso chair for Mattiazzi. Today Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec design for numerous manufacturers, Vitra, Kvadrat, Magis, Kartell, Alessi, Mattiazzi, Flos, and more recently, Iittala.
