Kay Bojesen: Wooden Rabbit in Blue
Kay Bojesen Classic Wooden Toy Collection
Rosendahl, Denmark.

Kay Bojesen's wooden Rabbit is made with painted beech. This happy wooden Rabbit is cute as a button and makes a great companion for the other wooden toy animals designed by Kay Bojesen. The energetic design marks in many ways something special in his iconic design circus. The rabbit managed to become the last figure since Bojesen died the following year, thus putting an end to one of the most original universes in Danish design history. The Midnight Blue Rabbit with Light Blue belly and paws is known among collectors as the original painted Rabbit, which with semi glossy hues gets even more vitality in the design. The perfect present for young and old! This classic design toy will provide joy for many years to come. The Bojesen Rabbit is a genuine piece of modern Danish design.

The wooden Rabbit from Rosendahl is part of a collection from wooden animals that were created by the legendary Danish designer Kay Bojesen in 1957. The wooden rabbit possesses a pure, modern expression without unnecessary forms. This product is FSC® certified. FSC (Forest Stewardship Council®) is an international non-profit labelling scheme for wood and paper, and your guarantee that you can buy the product with a clear conscience. In an FSC forest, no more trees are cut down than the forest can reproduce. Kay Bojesen: Kay Bojesen was one of the pioneers of Danish design. His classic wooden toys including his famous wooden monkey have transformed kids' rooms into jungles for the last half a century. In 1922, Kay Bojesen began designing wooden toys, typically about six to ten inches tall, with moveable limbs. These included a teak and limba monkey (1951), an oak elephant, a bear made of oak and maple, a rocking horse of beech, a dachshund dog in walnut, a hippo and rabbit in oak and Danish military figures including a drummer, a private with gun and a standard-bearer. Kay Bojesen's premise in his wooden toy design was a conviction that his objects should have life, blood and a heart. This is especially obvious in his beloved wooden toy soldiers and wooden animals, which have adorned children's bedrooms with smiles, taking children's dreams to imaginative far-flung lands. These classic wooden toys stay with you from childhood into adulthood, and we call them classics because we would not want to be without them. And because they were made with love, imagination and intelligence. These are classic wooden heirloom toys.
