Naef Modulon: Naef Toys
Deluxe wooden Naef toy, made in Switzerland.
Presented in a white cardboard gift box.

Modulon is one of the most sculptural art puzzles ever created! This wonderful wooden puzzle toy looks like a work of art by Gerrit Rietveld or Piet Mondrian. Modulon was created in the manner of the De Stijl art movement. This desktop art puzzle consists of primary white blocks and the three primary colors, yellow, red and blue. Just like in Piet Mondrian's De Stijl paintings, Modulon features black blocks which represent the dividing grid. Modulon was designed by Jo Niemeyer in 1984 for Naef Toys in Switzerland. It remains one of the most iconic art toys ever created. Fans of Gerrit Rietveld's Schroder House will find much to like in this beautiful toy for young an old and everyone in between. Not for children under 3 years old. Check out the Naef Modulon video bottom page.

Modulon is a cube divided into the dimensions of the Golden Mean. Aristotle described the Golded Mean as the desirable middle between two extremes, one of excess and the other of deficiency With Modulon, the Golden Mean is achieved with a geometric construction that has a divisor of approximately 0.618. Sixteen building blocks of seven different masses can be arranged to form many different proportions according to this harmonic principle.
