Timo Sarpaneva 'Timo' Water Glass (Set of 2)
Design House Stockholm, imported from Sweden.

Timo Sarpaneva's first international recognition in glass work came with a Grand Prix from the Milan Triennale in 1954. His classic Scandinavian 'Timo' water glass is a functional and elegant Scandinavian design classic. It holds 10 fl. oz. and is perfect for water, juice, latte, tea as well as any other cold- or hot drinks. Made of heat-resistant glass which is 30% stronger than normal glass. The ‘Termo’ water glass has an added silicone string that protects the hand while you are holding hot coffee or tea. Timo Sarpaneva was an influential Finnish designer, sculptor, and educator best known in the art world for innovative work in glass, which often merged attributes of display art objects with utilitarian designations. When Finnish glass designer Timo Sarpaneva presented this glass design, he said he thought it was his best glass ever. His reasons: the glass is thicker at its widest diameter so it's cooler to hold when filled with a hot beverage; the tapered bottom is comfortable for small hands to hold; the tapered top helps to prevent chipping in the dishwasher. An elegant water glass to pair with your favorite stemmed wine glass.

Made of heat resistant glass, Timo Sarpaneva's 'Timo' glass is durable against sudden temperature changes, like when pouring boiling hot coffee into a cold glass. Its mid-section is slightly thicker to prevent hot beverages from burning the hand. The top is slightly inclined to prevent the edge of the glass to be damaged in the dishwasher. The bottom is cone-shaped to fit in both small and big hands. All together it's a terrific example of how form follows function.

Price is for a set of 2 (two) glasses.
