Oluce Atollo Classic 233 Table Lamp. The Oluce Vico Magistretti Atollo Lamp 233, Classic Edition. We have a profound love affair with Atollo; one of the highlights of 20th century Italian lighting design. The famed Atollo lamp was designed by Vico Magistretti for Oluce in Italy. Vico Magistretti named this lamp "Atollo" which translates into "Island" from Italian. With the highly sculptural Atollo Lamp; Italian Designer Vico Magistretti took the idea of a regular table lamp and turned into a veritable work of art. Created in 1977 the Atollo Lamp by Vico Magistretti is now a classic in the history of modern lighting design. Atollo's secret probably lies in the geometrical construction of its shapes: the cone on the cylinder and the semi-sphere which seems to float above it all. A luminous sculpture from which nothing can be removed, and at the same time, to which nothing can be added. A table lamp that is perfect in every way. The Vico Magistretti Atollo Lamp was awarded the revered Compasso d'Oro design award in 1979 and is included in the permanent collections of the world's leading musea. For almost half a century, Atollo has no longer been a lamp, or rather, it has no longer been just a lamp. It has become a myth, an icon: one of the best known symbols of Italian design. Atollo, the beauty of light fulfilled.
