Daisaku Choh: Sakakura chair
Designed for Tendo Japan, 1960
The Sakura chair is an icon of Japanese modern design. Designed by Daisaku Choh & Sakakura Associates for Tendo Japan in 1960. The Sakura chair was actually created for use on Japanese tatami mats. The feet of the chair are very wide and spread the weight evenly over the tatami mat. The tatami mat therefore does not get damaged.
