We are proud to announce that the ultraslim 'Step' stepladder by Karl Malmvall for Design House Stockholm was awarded Best housekeeping product at the Wallpaper Design Award. Karl Malmvall's idea was to design a stepladder handsome enough to be a piece of furniture, rather than just a utilitarian object to be stowed in the closet after use. He even added a hook for placing it on the wall, always within reach: "We have more and more stuff in our homes, electrical gadgets, kitchen appliances, etc. We use our apartments from the floor all the way up to the ceiling. I want to leave the stepladder readily available on the wall, instead of hiding it away in a closet". Plus; the ultra slim step ladder profile makes it easy to store when needed.

Changing a light bulb. Reaching for that book. Or the coffee grinder on the top shelf in the kitchen. No home is complete without a stepladder. But usually they are just functional, dreary objects intruding on the home decor. Karl Malmvall's Step is another matter.
