Verner Panton Cone Stool Vitra
Vitra, imported from Germany

The perfect match with the Vitra Cone Chair; this great little ottoman provides a perfect place to rest your legs or when used as a cool-looking side chair. The beautiful Cone Stool is one of the icons of mid 20th century modern furniture design. The Cone Stool was designed by Danish designer Verner Panton in 1958. Verner Panton's Cone Stool has the trademark good looks of Panton's signature design style. The Cone Stool takes its name from its cone-shaped silhouette. Defying gravity, the Cone Chair and Stool were both futuristic and shocking... so much so that when it was exhibited in a shop window in New York City police had to order its removal due to the traffic chaos its presence created. A comfortable piece of furniture for everyday use, Vitra has faithfully re-issued this classic in close collaboration with the Panton estate. Made by Vitra in Europe. Verner Panton design can be found in the collections of the Vitra Design Museum, MoMA Design Collection, Victoria & Albert Museum as well as numerous public- and private collections.

"Most people spend their lives living in dreary, beige conformity, mortally afraid of using colors. The main purpose of my work is to provoke people into using their imagination and make their surroundings more exciting." -Verner Panton

In the mid-1950's, Verner panton converted a Volkswagen bus into a mobile studio and travelled across Europe. In 1958 he returned to Denmark full of unconventional ideas... one of which evolved into the iconic Cone Chair and Cone Stool.

Verner Panton (1926 - 1998) was born in Denmark but lived in Switzerland for most of his life. Among the giant of Modern Design, Verner Panton established a unique reputation for his exuberant originality and tireless experimentation. Verner Panton created lamps, furniture and textiles - and was also a sought-after interior designer. Although he was at the forefront of Space Age Modern Design, Verner Panton's contribution was anything but mainstream. He enthusiastically embraced new materials, he splashed with a bold color palette, and he playfully imbued many of his sculptural creations with a strong graphical expression - without ever compromising on quality of workmanship. Verner Panton's iconic works have emerged as contemporary design classics - as strikingly inventive now as they were 50 years ago.
