Robie 1 Cherry Wood Wall Sconce:
Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1906.
Official authorized edition by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation.
This beautiful wall sconce is truly a work of art and a classic in the history of 20th century design.
The fittings for the Frederick Robie House, Chicago 1906, stand within the most elegant expression
of Wright's Prairie House. These substantial bronze sconces, utilized throughout the public spaces of the house, continue the globe
vocabulary introduced in the living room fixtures, here modified to a half-sphere.
In contrast to the architecturally integrated fixtures in the living room, these sconces stand out as ornament to their surroundings.
Wright carefully positioned the light source within the fixture to produce delicate shadows. The geometric perforations of the top plate cast crisp patterns upon the ceiling.
Each lamp was made with the highest attention for details by Yamagiwa.
