Aino Aalto: Aino Aalto (1894-1949) was born in Finland. She got a job at Alvar Aalto's architecture office; they got married and started a lifelong partnership.
In 1932, Alvar Aalto, on his way to international fame, lost a design competition to his wife, Aino. Her winning entry the 'Aino Aalto glasses' also won the gold medal at the Triennale in Milan in 1936.
